Hattie Simpson

January 30, 1918 — March 13, 2013

McFarland- Hattie Marie Simpson, age 95, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Skaalen Home. She was born in McFarland on January 30, 1918, the daughter of Henry and Regina (Evans) Halverson. Hattie graduated from East High School in 1936. On September 21, 1938 she married Morris Simpson. Hattie was a member of McFarland Lutheran Church. Throughout the years, she thoroughly enjoyed all the visits from her whole family. She loved to bake, especially chocolate chip cookies and brownies for when any of her family stopped by to visit. Hattie also taught many of the family to make lefse but nobody could roll it as thin as she did. Hattie always looked forward to going out to eat with family members, friends, and other relatives. When she was able to take trips, she enjoyed going with her friends with the Weekenders and on fall color trips. On TV, she liked to watch the men's UW basketball games and Lawrence Welk. Hattie was a very loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be missed deeply. She is survived by her five children, Joy (Don) Lederman, Wayne (Sue) Simpson, Gene (Sue) Simpson, Sue Simpson and Gregg (Brenda) Simpson; eight grandchildren, Lori (Steve) Lederman, Jeff (Julie) Lederman, Mike (Angie) Simpson, Sheri (Maynard) Simpson, Lisa (Matt Coan) Simpson, Sara (Jesse) Sieger, Brittany Simpson, Alyssa (fianc�, Andrew) Simpson; seven great grandchildren, Anna, Rowan, Ava, Evan, Brock, Brody and Justin; sister, Lorraine Swalheim; special cousin, Phyllis Goede; special beautician, Barb Halverson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Hattie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Morris, in 1987; and brothers, Edmund and Harvey. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at McFarland Lutheran Church, 5529 Marsh Road, McFarland, with Rev. Timothy Dean officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of services Saturday at church. Memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare Inc., McFarland Lutheran Church or to Skaalen Home. The family would like to thank Dr. Utrie, Pastor Tim Dean, Pastor Koza, AgraceHospice Care and Skaalen Home for their loving care and support.
