MADISON/KANKAKEE, ILLINOIS
Hazel was born in Seneca Illinois on February 22, 1918 and died March 2, 2012. Hazel resided in Kankakee, Illinois until 1988 when they moved to Madison, Wisconsin. Hazel married the late Lawrence Arp on September 9th, 1936. He died June 8th, 1993 in Madison.
Hazel was employed as a seamstress at the Bear Brand Hosiery Company in Kankakee, IL for many years. Upon moving to Madison, Hazel worked for the Dept. of Revenue. Hazel and Larry were dedicated members of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Kankakee where Hazel was a member of St. Martha's Altar Guild. Together Larry and Hazel enjoyed many volunteer efforts within their communities, including St. Mary's Hospital Kankakee escorts and the Salvation Army of Kankakee. They were the initial two greeters at the then new University of Wisconsin University Station where they received their health care.
Hazel and Larry together enjoy many years of traveling in their mobile home. Avid ballroom dancers, Hazel and Larry were Big Band lovers and continued their dancing after their move to Madison.
Hazel would say her biggest joy was being able to care for Larry battling Alzheimer's while in their Madison apartment. Together they shared thousands of bowls of vanilla ice cream.
Hazel leaves behind two daughters, Melody and James Weeks of Tucson, Arizona and Cindy and Rick Klemme of Madison, Wisconsin.

The family wishes to express gratitude to Segoe Gardens Assisted Living, Dr. David Watts, Agrace Hospice, and in her final hours Dr. Johnson on B6 at UW Hospitals.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 405 S. Owen Dr., Madison, on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Msgr. Kenneth J. Fiedler presiding. A visitation will be held church on from 10:30 a.m. until time of the mass. The family requests no flowers.
