Madison-Helen Caroline (Koehler) Anderson, age 97, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2010.   Born on January 23, 1913, on the home farm in Sumpter Township, Mrs. Anderson was the daughter of Frank Herman Koehler and Louise Magdelene ( Hillesheim) Koehler. She married Martin Anderson on November 27, 1941, in the family home. For twenty-six years, she was an employee of the Madison Public School system in Food Services. Until she retired in 1978, she was the Head Manager of the program at West High School that included several satellite schools. During the winter months, Helen, who always rose at 3:30 a.m., and her staff prepared over 2,000 hot lunches a day for the students and faculty. Most skilled in the culinary arts, she had many memorable family gatherings and parties at their home. In the summer, Martin and Helen enjoyed traveling throughout the US.  They loved to work in their vegetable and flower gardens. After her retirement, she created numerous pieces of handiwork. When Helen was 93, she sold her home of sixty years and moved to Oakwood Village West.  Mrs. Anderson is survived by her three nieces: Dorothy Osterfund (Dennis Diehl) of Middleton, Shirley Koehler of Madison, and Virgene Biggers (Dale) of New Orleans; her great nephew Christopher Osterfund (Rebecca) of Plainfield, Illinois, her great niece Eva Biggers (Niagara Falls, New York), and her nephew, James Neil Denton (Nancy) of Oregon, her special friend, June Lemm of Madison and other family and friends.   Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Martin, on April 19, 1989; her parents; and her brothers: Alferd F. Koehler, Wallace L. Koehler, and Walter R. Koehler.  A funeral service will be held at the OAKWOOD VILLAGE RESURRECTION CHAPEL, 6201 Mineral Point Road, Madison on Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 11 a.m., with the Reverend Curtis P. Everson presiding. The visitation will be held at the chapel from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oakwood Foundation, 6201 Mineral Point Road, Madison WI  53705.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Tabor Oaks and Meriter Hospital. Â
