Helen Katherine Kjelson, age 93, passed away on Mon. Nov. 24, 2008 at the Don & Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center. Helen was born on January 4, 1915 in Sheboygan, Wis. To Captain Martin Anton and Anna Katherine (Jerving) Kjelson. Her father sailed his own sailing vessels on the Great Lakes. Helen was a graduate of Sheboygan High School and Madison College. She served thirty five years in the Wisconsin Department of Health as an administrative assistant, twenty five years as supervisor of the Division of Licensing of Funeral Directors and Embalmers and ten years in Hospital and Related Services. Helen enjoyed sewing at MATC, playing bridge with two groups, an avid reader, volunteered with RSVP and was a member of the Hill Farm Ladies Golf League. She also traveled extensively to many parts of the world. One of her greatest enjoyments came from being a second mother to her nephews, niece and grand nephew and grand nieces; Kristine Kjelson, Lynn Kjelson, Kristen Kohler, Erika Kohler, Jeff (Annette) Drescher and Marie (Chris) Dulaney; and five great grand nephews and nieces. Helen will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her nephews, Dr. Martin A. (Lockey) Kjelson III of Stockton, CA, Dr. Robert J. (Fay) Kohler of Winchester, TN and Mrs. Martha K. (Joe) Drescher of Cincinnati, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Martin A. Kjelson Jr. and sister, Evangeline (Dr. Homer) Kohler. Helen's family wishes to thank the in-home Hospice nurses and the staff of Don & Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Sheboygan. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to HospiceCare Inc. 5395 E. Cheryl Pkwy.
