Helen Truehl

February 8, 1924 — January 3, 2012

Stoughton - Helen M. Truehl, age 87 passed away quietly with the love and support of her family by her side on Tuesday, January 3, 2012. She was born on the family farm on February 8, 1924 in Cottage Grove, the daughter of Andrew and Mollie Gullickson. In 1941, Helen graduated from Madison East High School. She was a devoted member of the Cottage Grove Historical Society and the American Legion Women's Auxiliary. Her passion was reading. Not a day went by that you did not see a book in her hands. Helen was a kind and loving mother and grandmother. Her family was her pride and joy.
Helen was survived by her four children; Dennis (Cindy) Semenic, Marcia (David) Krebs, Scott (Cathie) Truehl and Karen (Monty) Homewood, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a sister; Janice (William) Fowler. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Anthony Semenic, her second husband Gordon Truehl; granddaughter, Michelle Schlecht and two brothers; Marland and Grant Gullickson.
Funeral services will be held at ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 332 East Washington Avenue, Madison on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 2:00 with Pastor Ken Smith. A visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 1:00 pm until the time of services.
