Helen E. Vickerman

Helen (McCarthy) Vickerman, 95, passed away peacefully at the Prairie Ridge Assisted Living Center in Madison on Sept 30, 2024. She was born in Madison on Valentine’s Day 1929. After her marriage to William Vickerman, they settled in Medford, WI where they lived until 1968 when the family moved to Sun Prairie. She was the proud mother of Peter, Kelly, Patrick, and Tomas.

After the kids were on their own, Helen became a realtor and worked for many decades for various companies in Madison. Late in life, she discovered a hidden talent for painting and stained glass, and she produced many beautiful works over the years. She was a passionate supporter of any cause that helped those in need. In addition to making blankets for the Linus Project, she would make mittens and caps and drop them off at local schools. Helen would also buy and donate bicycles to local families. Her fondest involvement was with the Sun Prairie Civic Theater’s Penguin Project to which she donated many hours of her time over the years.

She is survived by children Peter, Kelly, Tom and her sister Kay. She was a very loving and generous person with a sharp wit right to the end. She was loved by everyone she met and will be greatly missed. At her request there, will be no services at this time.
