Westport/Waunakee - Herman Joseph Wipperfurth, age 76, died on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012 at the VA Hospital in Madison. He was born in Ashton on May 5, 1935 to Henry and Margaret (Statz) Wipperfurth. He married the former Nancy Carol Littel in 1956 at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church.
Herman owned and operated the Willows Tavern for 40 years. He served in the Army 82nd Airborne-101st Division as a paratrooper and was a member of the American Legion Post 481. Herman was a master painter by trade, an avid sports fan and enjoyed boating, fishing, and playing cards.
Survivors include; his wife Nancy; his children William (Jo Ann), Tierney (Steve) Watzke, Tracy (Christ Pond), Tamara (Skip Zander), Tonia (Terry Coffey), Tiffany (Tom) Farris; grandchildren Vinessa (Dale) Griffith, Nicole, Jacob, Kurt (Shuwyi) Patulski; and a great-grandchild Oceana; five sisters Valeria Dresen, Marie Pierce, Leona Roberson, Betty (LeRoy) Thompson, and Margie (Lloyd) Dresen; and a brother Tom (Barb) Wipperfurth. Herman was preceded in death by two sister's Lucy Dresen and Angela Grosse; and a brother Joseph.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Westport. The Reverend David Carrano and the Reverend Roger Nilles will co-celebrate. Friends may call at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 6, 2011 from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call at the Church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
