Hermann J. Krebs

Hermann J. Krebs, age 87, passed away on January 6, 2010 at HospiceCare, Inc. He was born on July 11, 1922 in Dorsten, Germany, the son of the late Josef H. and Magdalene Krebs. Hermann was a Madison resident for 49 years. During this time he was a self-employed upholsterer and taught for Fox Lake Correctional Institute. He also taught at various technical schools in the area from 1967 until approximately 1990. 

He is survived by his ex-wife and mother of his children, Irmgard Krebs; children: Hildegard (Barrett) Browning of Blanchardville, Hermann (Agnes) Schmitz of Germany, Marion (Don) Spenner of Sussex, John (Cathy) Krebs of McFarland, Anne Prenevost of Madison, Frank (Amalyn) Krebs of Wake Forest, NC, Patrick (Pam) Krebs of Madison, Robert Krebs of Madison, and Susan Krebs of Madison; grandchildren: Andrew, Andreas, Thomas, Jennifer, Joseph, Emily, Laura, Frida, Marion, Alexandra, Ryan, Kevin, Polly, Erin, Verena, and Markus; great-grandchildren: Trae and Andre; sisters, Magdalene Vaupel and Josefina Meier, both of Dorsten, Germany.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Michael K. Krebs, and brothers, Karl and Robert Krebs.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Cress Funeral Home, 6021 University Avenue, Madison with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding. Family will greet friends on Friday, January 8, 2010 from 5 pm until 8 pm and on Saturday from 10 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roxbury Cemetery, Town of Roxbury.
