WAUNAKEE
Hilbert ""FRED"" Langrehr, 81, died on May 17, 2010 at his home after a long illness. Â Fred was born in Bangor, on September 19, 1928 to John and Sadie (Horstman) Langrehr. Â In 1946 at the age of 18 he joined the US Navy where he served his country in both WWII and the Vietnam War for the next 22 years, retiring from the military in 1968. Fred married Charlene Gay on September 28, 1959. Â After his career in the Navy Fred served as a chief building engineer for Holiday Inns, in Ft. Worth, TX until his retirement in 1990 when he moved to the Branson, MO area. Â After the passing of his wife, Fred moved back to Wisconsin where in, 1995 he renewed his acquaintance with his high school sweetheart, Margaret Ann Stello-Morgan. Â They were united in marriage on July 17, 1998.
Fred is survived by his wife, Margaret ""Marge"" of Waunakee, 2 stepchildren and 4 grandchildren, Sharon Morgan of Middleton and her son Lucas, and Bruce (Kris) Morgan of Lodi and their children Jakob, Justine and Jason; brother, John (Jody) Langrehr of Sparta; sister, Mary (Tom) Freeman of San Luis Obispo, CA; step-father, Glen Hoff of Bangor; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Â He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Darryl Gene Langrehr.
Marge and her family would like to thank Dr. Michael Thom and his staff at UW Hospital and Clinics and the caring staff at Hospice Care, Inc. for all their help and kindness during this time.Â
The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice Care Inc. in Fred's name.
A memorial service will be held at NOON on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home, Waunakee. Family will greet friends, at the funeral home, from 10:30 am until the time of service. Military honors will be performed by the American Legion Post 481. Inurnment will be in Vienna Cemetery, Waunakee.
