Homer Erwin Pfefferkorn, age 73, of Madison Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Meriter Hospital, after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. Homer was born on August 9th, 1935 in Waupun, Wisconsin to Erwin and Nora (Siewert) Pfefferkorn. Homer attended Waupun public schools and graduated from the UW-Madison. He was a CPA for 40 years in Madison. He married Thea Jane Lee on February 9th, 1963 in Darlington Wisconsin. Homer was a partner in the CPA firm of White, Reinholtz & Pfefferkorn for many years, serving as managing partner. He later worked for Arthur Young, Fitzpatrick & Roberts, & McGladrey & Pullen accounting firms. Homer enjoyed many good times with his family. He actively supported his kids in their many athletic and musical endeavors. He was a long-time Badger fan and enjoyed the football, hockey and men's and women's basketball teams. He especially enjoyed water sports, water skiing into his 60's, sailing on Lake Mendota, and journeying down the Mississippi river on houseboats. He was a jogger at the UW Shell, and ran every year in the Crazylegs Run, and in Al's Run in Milwaukee. He loved building models and completed many radio-controlled airplanes and boats. Homer was a charter member of the Madison South Rotary Club. He served as president of the club and its treasurer and was a fixture working at the Rotary brat stand at Badger football games for many years. Homer leaves his wife Jane; four sons, Tom (Fran) Pfefferkorn of Monona, John (Julia Winfield) Pfefferkorn of Charlotte, North Carolina, David Pfefferkorn of Madison, and Matthew (Robin) Pfefferkorn of Greensboro, North Carolina. Grandchildren include Anna, Jack, Wendy, Grey, Ava, Nicole and Owen Pfefferkorn. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jean (Jim) Leskee. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Feb.16, 2009 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 noon, and then a luncheon. A graveside service at Forest Hill Cemetery will follow. Memorials may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Madison South Rotary Foundation, or the charity of one's choice.
