Madison / Verona -- Howard Brown Hippman, age 68, died on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Badger Prairie Health Care Center in Verona. He was born in 1941 in Rockford, Illinois to George and Gwenith Hippman.
His outstanding prep football talent at Rockford East High School earned him a scholarship at UW Madison, where he graduated with a BA in history in 1963. After graduating he spent two years in the army at Fort Hood, Texas, after which he returned to the UW for his law school degree in 1968. He spent most of his career as a Small Claims Court Commissioner for Dane County.
Howard married Diane DeGolier in 1979, and had three children, Nick (28), Chuck (26), and Maggie (22). His interest in flying planes was outshined only by his passion for music, which included playing drums individually and as a part of various bands. Volunteering also played an important role in his life.
He will be remembered most for his strong devotion to family, his faith in the value of people, and his ability to ignite laughter among family and friends.
