Igor Slukvin Jr, MD.
Igor Slukvin Jr died on June 9th, 2022 at his home with COVID infection. Igor was born in Kyiv, Ukraine on July 29th, 1987 to his parents Igor Slukvin Sr and Alla Slukvina. An enormously talented and gifted young man, he had experiences and adventures few could even imagine. As a teenager, Igor loved skateboarding and enjoyed spending weekends at the skatepark with his friends. He also liked art and painting. Igor graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with majors in chemistry and political science and got an MD from the Ochsner MD program, at the University of Queensland, Australia. He had a strong passion for medicine, skydiving, and airplanes. He completed more than 850 sky jumps around the world https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ro_Rtw1JYk , 8 Ironman triathlons, and multiple marathons. He also got a recreational pilot license in Australia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnnVXdr0WVY . He had a thirst for life and experiencing all that it had to offer and deeply loved his family and dog Lily. But he also suffered from tachycardia as a teenager and later struggled with anxiety disorder, which he worked hard to overcome. His favorite quote was “Minds are like parachutes, they only function when they are open”. Survivors include his parents, Igor Slukvin Sr and Alla Slukvina, sister Anna Slukvin, and grandfather Vasyl Bespalko. Igor Jr was preceded in death by his grandfather Ivan Slukvin, grandmothers Maria Slukvina and Nina Besplako, and his brother Maxim Zelinsky.
A memorial service will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Rd. Madison, on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.. Private family burial will take place following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Igor’s Slukvin Jr memory to the
Doctors Without Borders Organization.
