Imogene Wiles

Waunakee---Imogene (Jeannie) K. Wiles, age 92, passed away on August 9, 2018, at Agrace Hospice. Imogene was born on November 26, 1925 in Cogswell, North Dakota to Dorothy and Roy Carpenter. Imogene married Oscar Junior Wiles on September 26, 1946.

Imogene worked as a bank teller and bookkeeper, but her most important job was that of a military (Navy) wife and mother of three. Oscar was often out to sea for months at a time, so Imogene was the glue that kept the family together and running. She grew up in Cogswell and lived in several other states. Imogene and Oscar retired in Oxnard, California. After Oscar's passing in 2005, she graciously relocated to live with her daughter, Linda, and son-in-law, Walter, in Iowa and Wisconsin. More than anything, she enjoyed being with family and loved the family pets. She was a gentle, kind, and generous person, who always made her family feel loved. We were blessed that "Jeannie was able to share her personality filled with caring, wit and humor throughout all her days. She left this world knowing how very much she was loved and cherished.

Imogene is survived by daughters, Sybal (Howard) Francisco; and Linda (Walter) Thomas; Granddaughters, Gypsy Thomas (David); and Dawn Burke (Michael); Daughter In-law, Marilyn (Wiles) Edwards and six Great Grandchildren, Lila, Morgan, Connor, Spencer, McKenna, Breiyonna; and other relatives and friends. Imogene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oscar Wiles; her son, Michael Wiles; her sister, Audrey Brower; her brother, Robert Carpenter; and grandson, Max Wiles.

The family held a small private ceremony to send Imogene on her journey with lots of love. Imogene will be buried with her husband, Oscar, at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California. A special thanks to the doctors and nurses who cared for Imogene at both St. Mary's Hospital and Agrace Hospice.
