Ingeborg Johanna Maria Albert

February 1, 1925 — May 1, 2009

Madison - Ingeborg Johanna Maria Albert (Felix) died Friday, May 1st after a long but uncomplaining battle against Alzheimer's Syndrome. Ingeborg was born in Netzschkau, Germany on Feb. 1, 1925. She was a precocious child and grew up fast during WWII. She lost two brothers and personally survived the firebombing of Dresden. These horrors were followed by incredible kindness and generosity shown to Ingeborg and our family by many Madisonians just a few short years after the war. While never forgetting the horrors, Ingeborg focused on the kindness and lived a rich and exciting life. She remained always a firm believer in peace and justice. She was a mother bear, fiercely defending any and all of her children against any threat. She believed boredom was a medical emergency and sought out adventure long into her seventies from hiking on active lava flows to whitewater rafting on the Green River and camping in the snow. It was an adventure to be a part of her family and we all miss her sorely.   She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Fritz; daughters Johanna (Alta), Elisabeth (John), Christine (Tom); sons Heinrich (Kathy) and Loon (Tracie); grandchildren Christopher, Lucy, Henry, Ansley, and Ariel, and sister Ruth. She was preceded in death by her son Carl.   A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held May 6 at 6:00 pm in the Tree of Life Chapel at Oakwood Village East 5565 Tancho Dr. Madison.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UW/VA Madison Brain Bank  http://www.wcmp.wisc.edu/brainbank/charitable_donations.shtml Ingeborg received great care and kindness from the staff of ""The Meadows"" at Oakwood Village East and the staff of HospiceCare; our entire family thanks them warmly.
