Irene Elizabeth Davis

SUN PRAIRIE   DAVIS, IRENE E.   Irene E. Davis, age 87, died Thursday, November 20, 2008 in her home.  She was born November 19, 1921, in Marshall, the daughter of Edward and Edna (Wurst) Ehlenfeldt.  On October 17, 1941, Irene was united in marriage with Dale Davis in Oregon, WI.  Irene and Dale operated the Davis Insurance Agency in Sun Prairie from 1959 -- 1986.  She was a member of Sacred Hearts Catholic Church, the Council of Catholic Women, St. Ann's Altar Society, the Sun Prairie VFW Auxiliary, past President of the Sun Prairie 20th Century Club and the Sun Prairie Country Club.  Irene enjoyed bowling, golfing (she and Dale won the couples championship twice in Sun Prairie), she loved to play bridge, her 2 Schnauzers and going to the Brewer and Bucks games.   Survivors include 1 son Bob Davis of Sun Prairie; 3 sisters-in-law: Rowena Smith, Beverly and Jackie Ehlenfeldt and her nieces Sue Duffel and Debbie Rubenbauer.  She was preceded in death by her husband Dale on April 29, 1994, her parents and her brother James Ehlenfeldt on Feb. 21, 2007.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, November 25 at SACRED HEARTS OF JESUS AND MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH 221 Columbus St. where friends may call from 10:00 am until time of Mass.  Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt will preside.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
