Madison - I. David Rothblatt, age 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011. He was born in Chicago on July 15, 1925. He is survived by his wife, Reine A. (nee Reinert); his daughter, Naomi S. (Mark R.) Shumway; and grandchildren, Katrina H. and Riley R. David is also survived by his brothers, Isaiah L and Abraham Rothblatt, as well as several nephews and nieces.
After graduation from Manley High School in Chicago, David joined the Army Air Corps. As Master Sergeant he served in the European Theater as a ball turret gunner on a B-17. He received numerous decorations and citations. After the war, he worked at the Chicago Board of Health.
In 1970, David came to Madison where he worked for the WI Dept. of Health until his retirement in 1985. At that time he went to work at WPS Health Insurance until his recent illness. David was an avid bridge player and achieved the rank of Life Master.
Services for David will be held Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memory Gardens, 7302 Mineral Point Road, Madison. There will be a graveside service with military honors. Shiva will be held at 513 S. Randall Ave., Madison. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his honor to Beth Israel Center or Jewish Social Services or HospiceCare, Inc.
