MADISON - Jack L. Huffman passed away peacefully with his devoted wife by his side on December 25, 2020. Jack was born to Larry and Bernice Huffman in Ft. Wayne, IN on November 18, 1938. He met the love of his life, Barbara Christie, in 9th grade algebra at Northside High School in 1952 and began dating her soon after. The couple married joyously on August 30, 1958.
After graduating from Indiana University in 1960 with degrees in Education and Business, Jack taught math and chemistry at high schools in Knox, IN and Bloomington, IN. In 1965, he joined the corporate world to work in employee training for RCA in Bloomington and Indianapolis, IN and Gast Mfg in St. Joseph, MI. While at UW, he conducted quality management and procurement seminars for business leaders. He also privately consulted business clients nationwide, published a book and authored many articles.
Jack had a gentle, playful soul and was liked by all who entered his life. He was a wonderful photographer and spent many hours in his dark room producing beautiful photos. Jack was active in Exchange Club and the Southwestern Michigan Nordic Ski Club. He also enjoyed playing pinochle with his friends. He was quick witted and always captivated a crowd with a story or a slideshow.
An avid fisherman his entire life, Jack and Barb purchased a second home in Estero, FL in 1993 where he enjoyed nothing more than fishing in the Gulf of Mexico for grouper and grunts.
He was an amazing husband, father, educator and friend to many.
Jack is survived by his wife Barbara, son Glenn (Jennifer) Huffman and daughter Lisa (Gonzalo) Sanchez along with grandchildren Ian, Chris, and Eric Huffman and Gabriela and Rory Sanchez. He will be missed dearly by all, including his backyard birds that he so fondly fed.
