Madison - The long good life of Jack B. Mitchell came to its inevitable conclusion Sunday December 6, 2009, exactly 98 years and 11 months after his birth in Oldham, Lancashire, England. At the age of one, Jack and his mother joined his father in Detroit Michigan, where he spent most of his youth and working life. He was proud to have attended Detroit's Cass Technical High School, even though he left at the age of 16 to apprentice as a wood pattern maker. He practiced that craft for more than 40 years. His 28 retirement years in Zephyrhills, Florida were probably the happiest of his life. He delivered meals-on-wheels, swam, did puzzles, read, and golfed. He hit two holes-in-one. Â In 1938, he married Mae Lillian Warner, who survives him. They have two sons, Jack (Bonnie) Mitchell of Madison and Timothy (Jeannette) Mitchell of Frederic Wisconsin. His six grandchildren are Calvin (Joanna) Mitchell of Lake Tahoe California, Maelanie (Peter) Kuzma of Monona, Brad Mitchell of Juneau Alaska, Tara (Carlos) Pabellon of Madison, Aaron Mitchell of Reno Nevada, and Cara (Nathan ) Suel of Anchorage Alaska. He leaves nine great grandchildren. Â A memorial service will take place Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 4:00 PM at COVENTRY VILLAGE RETIREMENT COMMUNITY, 7707 N. Brookline Dr., Madison, WI 53719.
