Waunakee- James E. ""Jim"" Bey, age 85, passed away on March 21, 2009 at the HospiceCare Center, Fitchburg. Services in Wisconsin will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home, Waunakee with visitation from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service Burial with military graveside rites will be held in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Jim was born on February 7, 1924 in Washington, IA the son of Fred & Myrtle (Benjamin) Bey. He graduated from Washington High School in 1942 and enlisted in the Army Air corps on November 17, 1942. He served both active and inactive until February 2, 1953 as an enlisted and commissioned 2nd Lt. as a Bombardier/Observer. He married Bernice Rice on May 2, 1952 while working at Bendix Aviation in Davenport. They both worked for 26 e years before retiring to California. They have resided in Waunakee most recently. He was a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, KAABA Shrine, Order of the Eastern Star and was awarded Rainbow for Girls Grand Cross of Colors. Jim is survived by his wife, Bernice, Waunakee; his daughter, Patricia Rice, four granddaughters, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild all living in the Chicago area; a sister, Harriet Orr, Bettendorf, IA.
