James W. Cassidy
James W. Cassidy, age 95, of Madison passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023. He was born on July 26, 1927, in LaCrosse , WI , to the late Harold and Vera Cassidy. ”JIm” graduated from Aquinas High School (LaCrosse) and furthered his education at Loras College in Dubuque, IA. He received his law degree at the University of WI, Madison. He was also a member of the US Marines during the Korean war.
In the fall of 1953, James went on a blind date and met the love of his life, Josephine “Jo” Alighieri. Three months later on February 6, 1954, Jo and Jim married. They made their home in Madison and three years later they welcomed their son, Dan. Jim was a devoted husband, family man and member of
the Catholic faith.
After retiring from his law practice, he went on to work for Kayser Ford (Madison) for many years. He made many lifetime friends there.
Jim was very fun to be around, always had a joke to tell, and loved to dance with Jo. He had an active social life where he and Jo continued to meet with friends regularly. He also filled his bucket list by learning to fly an airplane and took a balloon ride. He was loved very much by his family and friends
and will greatly be missed.
James is survived by his son Dan; sister-in-law Phyllis Ingwell; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jo; brother, John “Jack” Cassidy; sister, Joanne Gueltzow.
A visitation for James will be held on Thursday, May 4 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Rd., Madison, from 9:30-11 am. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Fr. Bart Timmerman presiding. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
