WAUNAKEE-James "Jim/Franco" Endres, age 64, of Waunakee died peacefully at his home, following a 9 year battle with lymphoma cancer, surrounded by his family. He was born to Harold and Laura (Schwartz) Endres on June 6, 1950 and graduated from Waunakee HS in 1968. He married Rosemary "Rose" Acker on April 18, 1970, in Ashton. Franco worked for Yahara Materials over 32 years and was very proud of the road projects he worked on, especially Hwy 151 to Dubuque. He and his brothers were known for tackling any project. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and giving them rides on his golf cart. He also enjoyed cruising the country side with Rosie in his '84 Corvette and going on 'tour' in his red GMC pickup with his buddies. He was drafted to the Army 1970-1972, a member of American Legion Post 360, 1st Vice Commander, and was very involved with the Fish Fries. He was proud to help his son-in-law on their farm as well as an active contributor to the Relay for Life.
Survivors include his wife of 44 wonderful years, Rose; daughters, Kristi (Craig) Ziegler, Julie Endres, and Lisa (Doug) Adler; five grandchildren, Morgan & Troy Ziegler, Walker & Avana Banning, and Kinlee Adler; his mother, Laura Endres; brothers and sisters, Helen, Joan (Tom)Ensign, Tom (Terry), Al (Julie), Lois, Sharon (Tom) McMahon, Karen (Mark) Lawler, Denny (Kristi Mlodzik), Art (Kelly), Donna, Jeff (Cheryl), Diane (Dan) Kienow; in-laws Marilyn (Joe) Ziegler, Alice (Darrell) Hellenbrand, John Acker, Tom Esser, and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold; brother, Ronald; father and mother-in-law, Joe and Christina (Kohlman) Acker; and sister-in-law Doris Esser.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 11:00 am at St John's Catholic Church 209 South Street, Waunakee, Msgr. James Gunn will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday, December 3 from 4-7 pm. Friends may also call at the church on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of services. Burial with full Military rites will be held in the church cemetery.
