Deerfield- James N. Gilbertson, age 78, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, August 18, 2023.
Jim was a fun loving guy who enjoyed having a good time. He always had a joke to tell and a quick laugh. Family was important to Jim. He was very involved in his children’s activities, both in school and in the community. He enjoyed being involved with 4H and teaching woodworking to 4H youth. Jim enjoyed the out of doors, camping, fishing, boating, and hiking. He loved planning yearly family trips, always with some “history” involved. Family gatherings included an exciting game of cards or a board game. Jim was an avid baseball fan and loved watching the Brewers.
Jim is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandy; three children, Rachel (Maxwell) Holmquist, Julie (Mike) Emrick, and Matthew (Andrea) Gilbertson; eight grandchildren, Emma, Maddox, Parker, Zane, Aina, Lilah, Paige, and Isaac; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Esther Gilbertson; brothers, Ron, David, and Dennis; and sister, Geraldine.
