Deerfield/Utica- James C. ""Swede"" Hanson, age 75, died at his home on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 following a battle with pancreatic/liver cancer. He was born in Edgerton on May 26, 1935 the son of Arthur and Geneva (Nelson) Hanson. James graduated from Cambridge High School in 1953. He worked for Wisconsin Power and Light, Southern Area, for 35 years, retiring in 1994 as the Concrete Crew Foreman. James was a member of West Koshkonong Lutheran Church. He was an avid outdoorsman. James is survived by his sister, Jeanne (Garry) Bailey of Illinois; brother, David (Cheryl) Hanson of Deerfield; three nephews, Bryan, Jim and Mike Jarlsberg, all of Cambridge; niece, Amanda (David) Bratland of Stoughton; four great nephews; two great nieces; two aunts, Ethel Kvalheim and Alice Nelson; several cousins; and special friend, Jeannie Hansen. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at West Koshkonong Lutheran Church, 1911 Koshkonong Road, Stoughton, with Rev. Richard Dowling officiating. Burial will follow in West Koshkonong Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon at church following the burial. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of services Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Koshkonong Steeple Fund or Rainbow Hospice, 147 W. Rockwell Street, Jefferson, WI, 53549. A special thank you to the staff of Bright Star and Rainbow Hospice.
