James “Jim” Truman Haried, 84, passed away March 6th, 2025 with family by his side. Jim was born and raised in Stoughton, Wisconsin on June 21st, 1940 and graduated from Stoughton High School in 1958. In 1960, he and Joann Brusegar were married.
Jim was a carpenter for most of his life, building many homes in the Stoughton area. After retiring, he worked seasonally at the University Ridge Golf Course until he turned 80. Jim enjoyed country music, car rides, and sports; his favorite pastime was cheering on his children and grandchildren at their sporting events and spending time with his family and little buddy, Dempsey Kerns. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, appreciation for the simple things in life, willingness to always lend a helping hand, and his smile, kindness, and love for his family.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Joann, are his daughters, Jill Lake, Jodi (John) O’Connor, Jennifer (Chuck Parr) Volenberg, Julie (Keith) Stenjem; grandchildren, Allison (Bryan) Rhyner, Adam (Angelina) Lake, Kiah (Mike) Rizzo, Carson James (Michelle) Ehrke, Hannah (Bobby) Vanderwist, Kelsey Volenberg, Bailey Volenberg, Brittany Volenberg, Chase Volenberg, Cole James (Olivia) Nelson, Jessica (Brad) Christopher; great grandchildren, Samuel Rhyner, William James Rhyner, Madison Rizzo, Michael James Rizzo, and Ava Christopher. Jim’s newest great grandson, Michael, who is the fourth child in the family to carry on James as a middle name, was born the same morning Jim passed. The family likes to think they met each other passing by. Jim was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Darrell Lake.
The family would like to thank Nazareth Health and Rehabilitation Center for their care over the past few months as well as Agrace Hospice for their compassion and commitment to Jim’s comfort during his final weeks. Thank you to Cress Funeral and Cremation Services for their support at this difficult time. To honor Jim’s wishes, there will be no funeral services.
