James Hellenbrand

March 15, 1934 — February 18, 2012

James P. Hellenbrand, age 77, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at home surrounded by his wife and loving family after courageously fighting Myelodysplastic Syndrome for 2 years. He was born on March 15, 1934 to John W. & Gertrude (Frederick) Hellenbrand. James was united in marriage to Florence B. Pulvermacher on February 12, 1957 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Martinsville. He was a longtime resident of Waunakee and member of St. John's Catholic Church in Waunakee and served in the U.S. Army for 2 years after the Korean War. Jim recently reached his precious goal of being able to celebrate 55 very special years of marriage to Florence.

He & Florence started Hellenbrand Water Inc. in 1967 and through a lot of dedication and hard work built a thriving Company that is well known today. He enjoyed spending winters in Arizona and weekends at their cottage with family and friends where many good memories were made. He loved to fish & golf with his buddies & share stories over coffee in the morning,. He enjoyed a good card game, putting puzzles together & watching the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers & Milwaukee Brewers. Jim was an usher at church and also a volunteer driver for "Meals on Wheels" until his health did not allow him to do that anymore. He was always willing to help someone and cherished his wife, children and grandchildren as family always came first.

He is survived by his wife, Florence; his seven children - Jeff (Ruth), Terry "Digger" (Jamie), Sue Hellenbrand (friend Dave), Kevin (Sue), Paul,(Julie), Jodi (Jeff) Marcouiller & Jay (Michelle); eleven grandchildren - Dana (Kevin) Young & Andrea Hellenbrand, Alex & Jenna Barbian, Russ & Amanda Von Swol, Carter Hellenbrand, Sawyer & Teagan Marcouiller and Ciboney & Seanna Hellenbrand; one great grandson - Taylen Young; four brothers - Donald (Evie), Jerome (Dorothy), Raymond (Mary Ann), twin brother John (Colleen) and two sisters - Doris (Donald) Schneider and Darlene (Richard) Miller; and in-laws - Gerald (Alice) Pulvermacher, Walter (Alice) Pulvermacher, Bernadette Pulvermacher, Marge (Harvey) Tesar, Jan (Connie Ryan), George (Barbara) Pulvermacher and Ann (Glenn) Johnston.

He was preceeded in death by his parents John & Gertrude and his mother & father-in-law Florian & Henrietta Pulvermacher, in-laws Norman & Alice Pulvermacher, John Pulvermacher, Marcus Pulvermacher, Sylvester Pulvermacher, Marilyn Pulvermacher & Beverly Hellenbrand; nephews Roger Pulvermacher, Kenneth Pulvermacher and Mark Pulvermacher and niece, Debra (Pulvermacher) Endres.

Funeral services will be at St. John's Catholic Church, 209 South St. in Waunakee on Tues. Feb 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m Msgr. James Gunn will officiate. Burial will take place at St. John's Cemetery in Waunakee. The visitation will be from 4:00 to-7:00 p.m. on Mon. Feb. 20, 2012 at St. John's Catholic Church . Friends may also call at the church on Tues from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services

The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Juckett, special nurse Dawn and the entire staff at the UW Hospital Oncology/Hematology Clinic and the staff at Agrace HospiceCare for their exceptional service. Thank you to everyone who donates blood as Jim received over 100 blood infusions over the last two years.

In lieu of flowers the family will establish a memorial at a later time.
