James “Jim” Williams, age 77, of Waunakee, WI, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of Lyle and Merreith Williams.
Jim graduated from Waunakee High School and worked for many years for the UW – Madison campus police department. Upon his retirement, Jim drove school bus for the Waunakee school district before retiring completely.
Jim loved spending time with his family. Gathering at his home for family dinners was a frequent event where he preferred his steak very rare and a glass of Knob Creek Bourbon. He enjoyed going to safety meetings, blues music festivals, and riding his motorcycle. At home, Jim could be found at the kitchen table drinking bottomless cups of coffee, reading, solving crossword puzzles, playing cribbage or watching the Packers or The Big Bang Theory.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Butt) of 46 years; his children, Jennifer Gilles, Stephanie Williams, Timothy Williams, Terry (Sherrie) Williams, and Travis (Megan Schanke) Williams; his grandchildren, Tre, Lydia, Antonio, Claire, Sophia, Cecelia, and James; and is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A special thank you to the caring staff at St. Mary’s Hospital.
