Cottage Grove – James “Jim” Richard Mindham of Cottage Grove, died at 3:23 a.m. Friday August 23, 2024 at Drumlin Assisted Living.
Jim was born December 8, 1926, in Boscobel, WI, the son of James L. Mindham and Mina (Greenfield) Mindham. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Farrell on October 6, 1951, in Madison, WI.
Jim was survived by two daughters Michelle of Waukesha and Vicky Galarowicz of Cottage Grove; one son Gregory of Blanchardville; three grandchildren: Amy, Kyle, Joanna; five great-grandchildren: Colten, Emmaus, Xavier, Destiny and Gavin; one great-great grandchild; sister Beverly (late Howard) Nesbit of Fitchburg, WI: and many nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth “Betty”, his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Jim was raised in the Boscobel, WI area. He joined the military, US Air Force, he became a medic and was stationed in Long Island New York. After an honorable discharge he became a salesman for the food section of JR Reynolds. Since he sold Planters Peanut, he was known as the peanut man. Once retired he was a snowbird with his wife Betty living most of the year in central Florida.
Jim was a faithful member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Schoenstatt Movement. He was devoted to his family taking them camping, snowmobiling and traveling throughout the country. He enjoyed getting together with friends to play cards, games, hunting and fishing.
Visitation will be from 9-11:00 AM on Thursday August 29, 2024 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 434 N. Main St., Cottage Grove, WI 5327 with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will be served immediately after the Mass.
