Madison -- James L. Noyes, Sr., age 96, died on Monday, March 23, 2009 at Covenant Oaks in Oakwood West. He was born on February 14, 1913 to George and Frances Noyes in Lexington, Kentucky. Jim was involved in the Boy Scouts. He was a Treasurer for the Village of Shorewood Hills; Treasurer for the Board of Directors for Madison General Hospital (now called Meriter); and Treasurer for the Board of Trustees for the First Congregational Church. Jim sang in the choir, and was a financial supporter of the church. He was a financial supporter of the Madison Symphony Orchestra, and occasionally sang to accompany the orchestra. He was active in the world premiere of Derek Hagen's opera ""Shining Brow"" about Frank Lloyd Wright. Jim was active in several book clubs, and active in Nobuk, an investment club. He helped start the marina at Shorewood Hills. Activities Jim liked included sailing, particularly at the island in Maine. He was employed at Arthur Anderson, where he became a CPA; employed at Ray-O-Vac, moving to Madison from Worcester, Massachusetts in 1942. He was also employed at Demco Library Supplies; and was later the Comptroller for Marshall Erdmann Associates, and then Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation. Jim is survived by his three children, Jim (Suzanne), Louise (John) Noyes-Trantino, and Richard (Christine); three grandchildren and their spouses; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, grand and grand-grand nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the RESURRECTION CHAPEL AT OAKWOOD WEST, 6205 Mineral Point Road, Madison.
