James E. Renguette, 61, of Madison, died recently after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born April 15, 1961 to Donald and Katherine Renguette in Racine, Wisconsin.
Jim was both an artist and educator at times throughout his career, and always an easy going people person.
"I'm grateful," he'd often say, appreciating even the smallest kindnesses in life. And he was quick to share those kindnesses with others.
As an artist, he was known for his wonderful printmaking in his early years, and he had an eye for great design.
Jim received an Associate's Degree from Madison College, then a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He later went on to receive a Master's in Education degree from Edgewood College where he earned a 4.0 and a Master's of Science degree from Capella University.
After graduating from Horlick High School in Racine, he spent his adult life in Madison and along the way worked at UW-Madison Printing Services/Photo Media, A-R Editions and Airwaves Magazine/WHA.
Jim was an Assistant Professor in the Computer Information Systems Department at Herzing University where he was a three time Instructor of the Year in 2001, 2000 and 1999.
He also was a Certified Instructor/Senior Instructor at New Horizons Computer Learning Centers, a Designer/Mac Systems Administrator at The Douglas Stewart Company and a Part Time Graphic Design Instructor at Madison Area Technical College.
Following his career as an educator, he could be found greeting and helping customers at several Madison stores, finishing his career at the Walgreens on East Washington Avenue. He loved his coworkers there and we are thankful for the kindness that they always showed to him.
He retired from Walgreens in 2021 to focus on his battle with cancer.
Jim will be remembered for his warm smile, wry sense of humor and unflappable disposition in the face of life's many challenges.
He is survived by his siblings Laura (Dan) Plutchak, Don (Sheri) Renguette and Joe (Terri) Renguette. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, including James and Samuel Plutchak; Jeni, Sarah and Carly Renguette; Michael (Stephanie and daughter Isabelle), Patrick, Daniel and Elizabeth Renguette.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM with a brief time of sharing on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at Cress Funeral Home, 3325 E. Washington Avenue, Madison. Burial will take place at a later date in Racine.
Please share your memories of Jim by posting on his Tribute Wall.
