James J. Sexton died December 26, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison. Jim was born September 20, 1937 to Joseph Cantwell Sexton and Eleanor K. Sexton. Growing up in Maple Bluff, Jim attended Lakewood School, Edgewood, and Wisconsin High School. In high school he played basketball and also began a lifelong devotion to golf, participating on the golf team and twice playing in the state tournament. After graduating from high school in 1955, Jim completed a term in the army after which he enrolled in and graduated from the University of Wisconsin. He then worked in New York at Chase Manhattan and went on to many years with IBM in Rockford. He met Joyce Hengerer while she was a doctoral student at the University of Wisconsin. They married and moved to Madison, where Jim worked for Parker Dean before starting his own company, Business Furniture Warehouse, which he operated for 20 years. Their two daughters are Ann (Steve) Bandy and Elizabeth (Carl) Olson. Jim had many enthusiasms and many friends. He had the good fortune to hone and enjoy numerous lifelong friendships.
Jim is survived by Joyce, his wife of 48 years, daughters Ann and Elizabeth, grandsons Ethan, Cooper, Brock, Conor, and Hunter, and his brother Richard Sexton and sister Joan Jones.
There will be no service. Jim will be interred at Resurrection Cemetery near his forebears.
