James E. Stout

Madison- James E. Stout, age 78, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024 at his home after a battle with COPD. He was born in Richland County on March 30, 1946, the son of Thomas and Bernadine Stout. Jim graduated from Central High School. He worked many years at Montgomery Ward out of high school. During the years he lived in Southern California Jim worked at Feldman’s Lighting Company. When he returned to Madison in the 1980’s Jim worked as a delivery driver and cared for his mother.

Jim is survived by his sister, Sara (Steve) Hicks; brother, David (Cheryl) Banker; nieces and nephews, Debra Brewster, Jodi Gillingham, John, Jessica Hamilton and Aja, Paul (Grace) Gilbertson, Steve Hicks II, David Banker II and Vicki; many great nieces and nephews and great great; many cherished cousins belonging to the Banker clan. Special great nieces, Emma and Addyson; and special great nephew, Wilder who Jim enjoyed their visits so much. He is further survived by his beloved cat, Myron. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister; nephew; and great nephew Kaden.

A Celebration of life gathering will be held at 1:00 PM until 4:30 PM on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Jim’s home in Madison. Please no political or religious conversations. It’s Jim’s day. No drama, please.

Memorials may be made to the Dane County Humane Society, or New Harvest Foundation.

A special thank you to the staff of Agrace HospiceCare and Cornerstone, and to long time friends Mary and Kathy and Phyllis and Marty, for keeping Jim comfortable in his home.
