James W. Bitterman

James W. Bitterman “Jim” passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Jim was born on November 25, 1961 in St. Louis, MO to the late James and Lois Bitterman. He graduated from Edgewood High School in 1980. While attending Edgewood, Jim was on the cross country team. Jim enjoyed watching and participating in other sports, both organized and leisure, throughout his life. Jim appreciated muscle cars. In his youth, his pride and joy was the 1968 GTO convertible that he purchased following high school. Jim loved nature and particularly enjoyed fishing. He loved all animals, and had many pet cats through the years. Jim was a hard-working man, working in construction for many years as a member of the Local 464 Laborers’ International Union. Most of all Jim will be remembered as a loving and attentive father to his son.

Jim is survived by his son, James Bitterman III, brother Anthony Bitterman, sisters Ruth (John) Johnson, and Amy (Mark) Isaf, nephew Salem, niece Sarah, and his feline companion, Spirit. He is further survived by many relatives and friends throughout the country.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents and feline companions Merlin, Comet, and Felix.

There will be a service for Jim held on Wednesday, April 9 at 9:30 am at Resurrection Cemetery Chapel, 2705 Regent Street.
