James Zemke

Stoughton- James Zemke, age 75, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. He was born in Stoughton on August 20, 1948, the son of Ernest and Edna Zemke. 

James graduated from Stoughton High School in 1966. On October 4, 1969 he married Judy Moen. James and his father Ernest built Jim and Judy’s first home where they lived for over 45 years. 

Jim was an over the road truck driver, then became a salesman for Deerfield Co-op and Landmark. He enjoyed helping and working the Utica tractor pulls, playing euchre, and attending his grandsons sporting events in hockey, baseball and soccer. Jim and Judy loved to travel to Las Vegas to gamble. Jim was a lifelong Packer fan, and in November 2019 attended his first game at Lambeau with his son Aaron. Jim knew someone everywhere he went, even if he was thousands of miles away from home. He was a proud lifelong member of Western Koshkonong Lutheran Church, where he was baptized and confirmed. 

Jim is survived by his sons, Scott (Susan), and Aaron (Renee); grandsons, Oliver, Mason, and Myles Zemke and James (Tara) Robb; and great grandson, Henry Robb. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy; grandson, Adam Robb; brother, David; and sister, Naomi (Rollie) Bultman. 

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Western Koshkonong Lutheran Church, 2633 Church Road, Cottage Grove, with Rev. Trent Saari officiating. Burial will follow in Western Koshkonong Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until the time of service at church on Wednesday. Memorials may be made in Jim’s memory to the church.
