A tribute to Jammie written by Chuck:
"The spirit of my precious Jammie was released from her physical body today. She lived a full life despite health issues that tried to conquer her. Her friends were many. She had no enemies. She was loved, and there are so many stories.
I honestly remember the first time I saw her. I was 21, heading to the beer tent. She was 12 and looking for her parents at a local establishment. I looked at her and thought, "Those eyes will drive some guy nuts someday." Little did I know that it would be me...seven years later.
We've shared 46 years together, and it was a lot, and I mean a real lot, of fun. Two youths and we handled 'grown up' life well. We danced, laughed, and partied. She was excellent at pool, foosball, and playing cards. She pitched the softball for her team. She was full of life. So many stories.
After losing the use of her hands for 15 years, nothing short of a miracle restored them. She started drawing, and she was really good! With no real training, she drew over 120 pictures and gave most of them to friends and children. She was really good. She drew five Christmas cards which are cherished by countless friends.
She accomplished so many things, and she did it with a smile. People marveled that she was so positive in spite of her disability. I was so fortunate to share it.
Jammie was funny too! She treated the English language with kid gloves. I have a list: 'It's like killing two stones with one bird.' 'Once I was sick, so they put me on a breathalyzer.' 'The bear I have to cross.' 'Chuck, would you turn on the ovulating fan?' A friend got arrested: 'Who's going to pay his ransom?' The list goes on....
The MS was patient, however, and after a battle of over 35 years, it sent pneumonia for the 13th time. She had lost the effectiveness of her medical allies and peacefully surrendered today. With the knowledge that this was inevitable, it is still incredibly hard to accept. I will love her unconditionally forever. She shared her life with me. I couldn't be more blessed.
I have to try and get some rest so my tear ducts can replenish. I believe we were destined. She made me hang up my rock and roll shoes. She was my one....I hope you find yours.
On more. She hit the Major on one of Shack's machines for $1500 a couple weeks ago. She was a winner. I'm sure there's a chair for her at Duane Skaar's poker table. He'll be waiting to get his money back.
I apologize for failing to say that Jammie worked at Nora's Tavern in her early years, and until her disability prevented, her career was as an aide with the developmentally disabled at Central Wisconsin Center. So many friends and stories.
Also, she drove a yellow '67 Pontiac Catalina. She drove it fast. So many stories.
