Madison-Jane B. ( Lawton ) Lenz, age 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at her home. She was born on June 16, 1923 in Milwaukee the daughter of Herbert & Alice (Franks) Zabel. Jane was united in marriage with Loren Lawton on February 22, 1946 and they enjoyed over 43 years of marriage until his death in 1989. She then married her second and surviving husband Robert Lenz on October 13, 1990. With her first husband she owned and operated the Thumb Tack Office Supply and the Shopping Reminder in Columbus for many years. In her spare time she enjoyed Rosemaling and taught craft classes at Oakwood Village East. Jane was a member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Sun Prairie. She lived her life with kindness and compassion to others, an inner strength that was respected by many and a wonderful sense of humor. Besides her husband Robert of Madison she is also survived by her daughter, Bonita A. ( Sandra Hendricks) Lawton, Madison; her son, Michael G. (Pam) Lawton, Westby; her stepson, Mark Lenz, San Francisco; her grandchildren, Jenny (Eric) Anthon, Christopher, Quincy, Brooke, Tyler and Lindsey; her great-grandchildren, Emily, Cooper and Alyse; nieces and nephews. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Herb "Dusty" Zabel and a sister, Audrey "Bonnie" Schroeder. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at the Tree of Life Chapel, Oakwood Village East, 5565 Tancho Dr. , Madison with Father Michael Tess officiating. A time of gathering will be held at the chapel on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service and a reception will also follow service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated
