Jane P. Taugher

MADISON- Jane P. (Urbanek) Taugher, age 91, died on April 6, 2009. She was born on July 14, 1917, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She married Norman J. Taugher on April 18, 1938. Jane attended Marygrove College in Detroit, Michigan. Jane was a devoted wife and mother who took much joy in watching her family grow. Jane participated in many activities within the Madison community. She served as a leader in the Girl Scouts, was an avid bridge player, and enjoyed many years of golf in several Madison women's leagues. Jane and Norman were also active members of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. She took great pleasure in providing a warm and welcoming home for all who visited, and her home always smelled of her delicious cooking. Jane always loved spending time with her family, including her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She and Norman enjoyed traveling extensively in Europe, Asia and Africa. After moving to Oakwood Village East, Jane and Norman made many close friends, and enjoyed the diverse activities available to them. Jane especially enjoyed the art projects, worship services, and music programs. This past year, Jane and Norman were proud to celebrate their seventieth wedding anniversary. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Norman. She is survived by a daughter, Judy (Allen) Hable, a son, Richard (Marcia) Taugher, four grandchildren, Diane (Darrel) Roberts, Jeff Hable, Ryan Taugher, and Rebecca Taugher, and two great-grandchildren, Jared and Samantha Roberts. A brother and sister preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at the TREE OF LIFE CHAPEL AT OAKWOOD VILLAGE EAST, 5565 Tancho Drive, with Msgr. Terrence L. Connors officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services on Wednesday at Oakwood.
