Madison -- Janice M. Houtler, age 87, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Oak Park Place in Baraboo from Alzheimers. Â She was born on August 22, 19 22 in Poynette , Wisconsin , the daughter of Hubert ""Gramps"" and Joanna A. ""Honey"" (Aeschbacher) Haight. Â Janice was united in marriage to the love of her life and knight in shining armour, Gerald ""Jerry"" William Houtler on September 1, 19 47 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Madison . Â Together they raised four children. Â Family time was very important to Janice. Â Every year they would go on family camping trips. Â These memories will be cherished forever. Â She was very talented. Â Janice enjoyed knitting, sewing, ceramics, and most of all painting. Â Janice enjoyed painting scenes of the outdoors with oils and acrylics. Â Â For many years, Janice taught ceramic classes at ""The Land of Mick and Honey"" in Poynette with her mother and two sisters. Â Â In her free time, she volunteered for RSVP's ""Busy Hands"". Â Janice was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Â She will be dearly missed by all the hearts she touched. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years; Jerry Houtler of Madison, four children; Lynn Abbott of Madison, Neil (Monica) Houtler of Greenfield, Bruce (Kris) Houtler of Reedsburg, and Marilee (Dave Tubb) Houtler of Townsend, five grandchildren; Sarah, John, Emily, Donovan, and Hannah, three sisters; Ethel ""Chub"" Mueller of Poynette, Shirley Wright of Colorado, Marki Curtis of Poynette and a sister-in-law; Liz Haight of Massachusetts. Janice is also survived by other loving family and friends. Â She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Thomas Haight. Â A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 401 S. Owen Dr. , Madison on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Tony Schumacher officiating. Â A visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery . Â In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Janice to the Home Health United Hospice, 1111 8th Street , Baraboo , WI 53913 . Â The family would like to thank the staff at Oak Park Place and Home Health United Hospice for being such wonderful people and taking excellent care of Janice in her final days. We miss you and will love you always.
