Janice Nelson Morgan (nee Shriver) died peacefully at Sebring Assisted Living Residence on October 5, 2011 at age 88. She was born May 22, 1923 to Fred B. and Gladys (Whiteley) Shriver in Iowa where she grew up and attended Cornell College. In 1958 she graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor's degree in Education. She taught in the Madison school system for 12 years and then in the Cambria-Friesland Consolidated schools until her retirement. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, rosemaling, and reading. This love of crafts was passed on to her daughters. She enjoyed many trips with her husbands or her special friend, Peggy Lindberg, of Madison.
Janice is survived by her daughters, Susan (Frank) Nelson Curtis of St. Louis, MO and Christine W. Nelson of Madison; stepdaughter, Roxanne (Jim) Krueger of Cambria; four stepsons, Tim Morgan of Cape Girardeau, MO, Dan (Dylan) Morgan of Anchorage, AK, Steven (Debbie) Morgan of Faribault, MN, and C. Todd Morgan of Hayward, CA; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Elton Nelson (1955), and Clayton Morgan (1999), and her sister Rexine (Shriver) McMaster.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. in the Sebring Assisted Living Residence chapel, 7710 S. Brookline Drive, Madison. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff of Sebring Assisted Living Residence for their exceptional care of Janice, and in particular the loving care of Tongjing Wu at Sebring. The family would also like to thank HospiceCare, Inc. of Fitchburg for their special care.
