MADISON- Janice E. Pottinger, formerly of Madison, passed away peacefully at Agrace HospiceCare on December 18, 2014.
Janice was born in West Milwaukee and attended West Milwaukee High School and the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Janice was a founder of Children's House in Racine, a school for mentally handicapped children and worked for many years for the medical school at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
Janice is preceded in death by her first husband Donald C. Pottinger and her second husband of 35 years Dennis A. Verstegen.
She is survived by her children Douglas of Madison, Andrew (Judy) of Shorewood and Sherrill (Symon) of Palatine, Ill. She is also survived by six grandchildren Jacob, Julie and Jessica Pottinger, and Lindsey, Sarah and James Arnold. She is also survived by stepchildren Britt and Ian Verstegen and their children and grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the American Heart Association.
A memorial service will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, on Saturday, January 10, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service.
