Janice Reynolds Obituary   Madison - Janice Mary Coe Reynolds passed away peacefully Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Attic Angels Nursing Home at the age of 95.   Janice was born May 23, 19 14 , in Cashton , Wisconsin , daughter of Phoebe Lane Coe and Carl Coe.   Janice graduated from Cashton High School in 1930 at age 16 and moved to Milwaukee in 1932 where she completed the Business Program at Miss Brown's School.   Janice worked in Milwaukee for several years, and while on vacation one summer in Door County , met her true love, David Reynolds, at Maxwelton Braes Golf Club.   They were married May 2, 19 46 , at Gesu Church in Milwaukee .   David and Janice moved to Madison in 1947.   They celebrated 54 years of marriage prior to David's death on July 7, 2000 .   In 1950 Janice contracted polio and lived with the resulting physical limitations for fifty nine years.   Pregnant with her third child she was isolated at Wisconsin General Hospital and treated in an iron lung.   Despite these limitations, Janice was active in raising her three children and involved in many volunteer activities.   She donated several thousand hours to the Braille Society of Wisconsin, typing several complete books in braille. Her meticulous keyboarding skills were legendary and her work provided many hours of pleasant reading for many visually impaired people.   Janice was an avid bridge player and shared wonderful friendships and memories with her card-playing friends, especially her Trash Day Bridge Club in Westmorland.   Those who knew Janice marveled at her independence.   She was an inspiration to all with her ability to participate in life to the fullest despite her physical limitations.   Janice and David were among the first members of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in the late 1940's and she was a member there throughout much of her life.   The family appreciates Janice's community of friends at Attic Angels and the wonderful staff who supported her throughout her residence there.   She is survived by her children Phoebe (Dennis) O'Connell, Richard (Barbara) Reynolds and Katherine Reynolds.   Janice is also survived by her 7 grandchildren: Bridget (Ben Bader) O'Connell, Maura and Drew O'Connell, Allison, Jennifer, David and Eric Reynolds.   She was preceded in death by her husband David Clarke Reynolds and her sister, Marjolane Rohrssen.     A Mass of Christian burial will be held at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 401 S. Owen Dr ,   on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 12 noon with Monsignor Kenneth Fiedler officiating.   A visitation will be held at the church on Friday, October 23, 2009 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.   Burial will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery .   Those wishing to remember Janice could make a donation to the Wisconsin Council of the Blind, Edgewood High School , Queen of Peace School Endowment Fund or to a charity of your choice.
