Jason Laufenberg

August 4, 1988 — May 21, 2009

Jason Laufenberg, age 20, of Ashton, died on Thursday, May 21, 2009, at his home following a gallant battle with leukemia. He was born on Aug. 4, 1988, to Fred and Mary (Endres) in Madison. He graduated from Middleton High School and went on to Madison Area Technical College and received a degree in diesel and heavy equipment technology with high honors, making the dean's list. He was then employed by Carl F. Statz and Sons in Waunakee, as an extraordinary mechanic. Jason was always driven on his projects and at his job. In February of this year he participated in the Candlelighter funded ATV trip to West Virginia. He was full of life and vigor up to the end. Jason was diagnosed with high risk A.L.L. (leukemia) the day after Mother's Day in 2005. Through it all he still enjoyed ""teasing"" and receiving it in return. As he battled the disease he gained the respect of the doctors and nurses at UW Hospital. Survivors include his parents, Fred and Mary; his sister, Kim; brother, Kurt; his maternal grandparent, Vincent J. Endres; and his paternal grandparents, Walter and Antoinette Laufenberg; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Joan Endres. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at 11 a.m. at ST. PETER'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7121 County Trunk K, Middleton (Ashton), the Rev. Bud Hollfelder will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Monday, May 25, 2009, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Many, many thanks to our nephew, Christopher Sherer for his hours of assistance with Jason during his final week. Also thanks to his friends and classmates for their time on visiting him during the last week. Thanks also goes out to the nurses, nursing staff and doctors at UW Hospital for their patience and care given to Jason.
