Jean C. Smith, age 83, passed away due to cancer at St. Mary’s Hospital on Sunday, March 9, 2024. Jean was born on November 26, 1940 in Madison, Wisconsin to John and Mary (Semor) Bohling.
After Jean graduate from Sun Prairie High School, she met and married George Smith on April 4, 1959 in Sun Prairie, WI.
Together they began to build a life and family having four children (Barbara, Robert, Kristi and Annette). Jean was an exemplary mother and human being. She embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity that was seen in her care and concern of her family and friends.
She had 21 years of service as a computer operator for the State of Wisconsin, continuously learning new computer system until she retired in 2001.
Jean had the biggest heart and a wonderful smile. She loved visiting friends and family through boating, camping, fishing, picnics, and playing cards. She was also grateful for the many years she played horseshoes for the American Legion touching the lives of so many people. She will truly be missed and will never be forgotten.
Jean is survived by her daughters Barbara (Greg) Weihert of Waterloo, Kristi (Robert) Klawitter of Sun Prairie, and Annette (Leon) Schmitt; and one son Robert Smith of Waterloo; 4 grandchildren (Shane Draper, Felicia Weihert, Brandon Smith, and Trevor Klawitter); and 2 great-grandchildren (Avah and Everleigh Draper).
She is preceded in death by her husband George L. Smith in 2023, father John S. Bohling, mother Mary Bohling, brothers Thomas, James, and Steve Bohling.
A private urn burial will take place at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens.
