Jean Adelaide Sutton Hammond, age 75, died Saturday, August 1, 2009 in Fitchburg surrounded by her family.   She was born July 10, 1934 in the Township of Hampden, WI, the daughter of Charles and Ella (Kehl) Sutton.   Jean graduated from Columbus High School in 1951, the Columbia County Teachers College in 1954 and received her BE degree from UW Whitewater in 1970.   In 1954, Jean began teaching in rural schools in Columbia County, as well as, North Leeds and Cottage Grove.   In 1970, she began teaching in Sun Prairie until her retirement in 1992.   She was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, the WEA, SWEA and Our Savior's Lutheran Church.   On August 8, 1955, Jean was united in marriage with Kenneth F. Hammond in Columbus, WI.   Jean's greatest joy in life was her husband and family.   In addition to her husband Ken, Sr., survivors include 2 sons: Kenneth (Pam) Hammond, Jr. of Sun Prairie and Daniel (Lynn) Hammond of Kansas; 2 daughters: Valerie Hammond and Jennifer (Gary) Hammond both of Sun Prairie; 6 grandchildren: Emilee, Katie, Hillary, Daniel, Kenny and Kayla; 4 great grandchildren: Dylan, Jackson, Ty and Brody; 7 sisters: Marion, Inez, Barbara, Judi, Edith, Susan and Cheri.   Jean was preceded in death by her parents. A Celebration of Jean's Life will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 4,  at OUR SAVIOR'S LUTHERAN CHURCH 550 Lincoln Drive where friends may call from 9:30 am until time of service.   Reverend Julie Krahn will officiate.   Cress Funeral & Cremation Service 1310 Emerald Terrace Sun Prairie (608) 837-9054
