Jean Lewis

Jean Elaine (Stehr) Lewis died on August 17, 2016 at the age of 90. Jean was born in Madison, Wisconsin on January 25, 1926, to Herman Henry Stehr and Marie Lucinda (Sparks) Stehr. She was married to John Jacob Lewis for over 60 years. Jean worked at Manchester's Department Store in downtown Madison for most of her life until retiring.

After retiring, Jean and John lived at their lakefront home on Lake Sherwood in Rome, Wisconsin, for many years before moving back to Madison.

Jean is survived by her three children: Linda Lewis (Jan Anderson), John Lewis (Rhonda), and Mark Lewis; granddaughter Amber Lewis; and sister, Louise Tesch. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband John, and her sister Virginia Stehr.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016, 2:30 p.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery, 1 Speedway Road, Madison. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a reception celebrating Jean's life at the home of Linda Lewis and Jan Anderson.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Segoe Gardens Independent Living Apartments and the excellent physicians, nurses, and staff at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jean's name to the Dane County Humane Society.
