Jean F Manke

DeForest-Jean F. Manke, age 85, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August 11, 2010.  She was born on July 30, 1925 in DeForest the daughter of Gustave & Frieda (Hummel) Briggeman.  Jean was united in marriage to Walter A. Manke on May 31, 1947 in DeForest.  Jean lived and worked in the DeForest area for her entire life. She was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in DeForest, Half Century Club, East Side Business Club, KAYRA and the Red Hat Society. She loved to bowl, spend time with her family, travel and always enjoyed playing cards with friends. She is survived by her sons, Keith (Nancy) Manke, DeForest & Gary Manke, Lodi; grandchildren, Tamara (John) Neppl and great grandson, Jonah, DeForest and Christopher (fiance' Mindy Jacobson) Manke, Cottage Grove; cousin, Lucille Grant, Grand Rapids, MI.; sister-in-law, Evelyn Engeseth, Madison; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and in October 1988 by her husband Walter. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 220 S. Main St., DeForest with Rev. Jerry Olson & Rev. Erica Adams officiating.  Burial will follow at Norway Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the Christ Lutheran Church on Sunday, August 15, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to HospiceCare. A special THANK YOU to the HospiceCare staff for the care they gave Jean.
