Stoughton- Jean A. Olson, age 85, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital in Racine on Thursday, January 5, 2012. She was born in Hazelton, Pennsylvania on February 7, 1926, a daughter of John and Ann Marie (Elick) Yurovchak. On January 23, 1958, she wed Rodney B. Olson. They were married and farmed together for 35 years in Utica. Jean was a member of Western Koshkonong Lutheran Church, and a member of the Mothers club there. She loved to golf, play cards and work on crafts with friends. She was a very social, loving and expressive person; generous and selfless. Jean had a great respect for our troops and veterans and supported veterans causes. She is survived by 4 children, Ann (Gerald) Anderson, Stoughton, Barbara J. (Kevin) Graul, Racine, Betty J. (Edward) Hoffman, Allenhurst, GA, and Jack T. (Sheri) Olson, Stoughton; 2 step-children, Byron D. Olson, Lodi, and Marci Lynn (Wayne) Sadek, Lodi; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Joan (Albert) Moran and Betty (Ralph) Sappe. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rodney B. Olson; a brother, Joseph (Ann) Yurovchak; a sister, Ann (Robert) Mucklow; and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Western Koshkonong Lutheran Church, 2633 Church St., Cottage Grove, with the Rev. Thomas Heyn officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 10th at the Cress Funeral home in Stoughton, and again from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am at church on Wednesday.
