Middleton

Jean S. Rennebohm, age 98, passed away on August 17, 2024 at Attic Angels Community in Middleton, WI.

Jean was born July 23, 1926 in La Crosse, WI, the daughter of Arnold and Bernice (Ash) Swartz. Jean graduated from LaCrosse Central High School, attended the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse and graduated from Macalester College, St. Paul, MN.

In 1948, Jean married Robert (Bob) B. Rennebohm and moved to Madison, WI where Bob Jr., Jane and Julie were soon welcome additions to the family. Jean’s love of winter sports was transferred to them as they were all on skates and skis at an early age. As soon as they were in school, Jean took advantage of the many classes offered in Madison including attending classes at the University of Wisconsin. When her grandchildren came along, she was delighted and spent as much time as possible with them. Then great grandchildren started arriving and she felt doubly blessed to have babies in the family again. At the time American Family Children’s Hospital opened, she wrote a book, “The Mysterious Kangaroo” as a gift for each child who was admitted.

Jean was a willing volunteer during her life in Madison and happily continued that after moving to the Attic Angel Community. She was a member of Attic Angels, the PEO Sisterhood, and Luther Memorial Church.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, of 59 years; her brother, Arnold Swartz Jr.; her sister, Betty Swartz Sundet; and her grandson, Adam Robert Rennebohm. Jean is survived by her children: Robert B. (Mary Anne) Rennebohm, Jr. of Iowa, Jane (Larry) Mialik and Julie (Tom) Jacobs both of Madison. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be planned at a later date.

The family wishes to thank all who offered compassionate care and meaningful support along the way, especially the staff at Attic Angels and Agrace.
