Stoughton- Jeanette A. Nelson, age 75, passed away at Nazareth House in Stoughton on Saturday, July 23, 2011. She was born in Stoughton on March 7, 1936, a daughter of Fritchof and Lillian (Bohling) Scheldrup. On May 6, 1961, she was united in marriage to Roy W. Nelson, Jr. at Central Lutheran Church in Stoughton. Jeanette is remembered as a wonderful wife and mother and grandmother who enjoyed family vacations, Badger Basketball, dancing in the kitchen with the kids to the oldies station, kickball, bowling, cards and golf. She especially loved babies and dogs. Jeanette worked as a nurse for many years. She was active in the life of Covenant Lutheran Church, and was a member of the New Century Club. She had artistic talent and created many beautiful quilts and Hardanger pieces. Jeanette was a voracious reader, always attended her grandchildren's events, and enjoyed spending time with her many close friends. She is survived by her husband, Roy; children, David (Liz) Nelson, Elizabeth (Brian Larson) Eugster, Thomas Nelson, Margaret (Roger) Raisbeck, and Mary (Mark) Forrer; grandchildren, Erin and Mara Nelson, Joshua, Isaac and Elijah Eugster (their father, Dan Eugster), Nelson and Sydney Raisbeck, and Andrew and Samuel Forrer; brothers, Sid (Ruby) and Art Scheldrup; sister, Mary Smithback; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Owen 'Bud' Scheldrup. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Covenant Lutheran Church, 1525 N. Van Buren St., Stoughton, with the Rev. Mark Petersen officiating. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery South. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, July 26th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, and again at church on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Special thanks to Stoughton Hospital, St. Mary's Hospital, Nazareth house, Hospice Care,and especially to Rev. Mark Petersen. Memorials may be made to Covenant Lutheran Church.
