Stoughton- Jeanette Isabelle Peterson, age 87, passed away at the Stoughton Hospital on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 following a short illness. She was born in Linden on March 3, 1921, a daughter of William and Eda (Bockhop) Dixon. Jeanette spent several years of her life caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was employed at hospitals in Iowa County, the Skaalen Home and Morningside Nursing Home in Stoughton, and also for Dane County Visiting Nurses. She was married to Charles E. Stacey in 1939. They had four children together. He preceded her in death in 1967. In 1971, Jeanette married Glenn R. Peterson of Stoughton. They enjoyed over 30 years together, spending 25 winters in Palmetto, Florida and also traveling to many countries throughout the world. He preceded her in death in 2005. Jeanette was very involved with church activities and was thankful for the good friendships formed throughout those years. She was the happiest when she had all of her family together and could treat them to her good cooking and baking. She was a wonderful mom, grandma, aunt and friend, and her memory will live on in our hearts forever. Jeanette is survived by her four children, Charles (Deb) Stacey of Oregon, Bert (Eileen) Stacey of Stoughton, Ernest Stacey of Edgerton and Bonnie (Glenn) West of Cottage Grove; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her spouses, Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 23, 2009 at Christ Lutheran Church, 700 County HWY B, Stoughton, with Rev. Paula Geister-Jones officiating. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church. The family would like to thank Pastors Scott Geister-Jones and Paula Geister-Jones for all of the comfort given with their visits and prayers. Also a huge thank you goes out to the staff of Harbor House in Stoughton where Jeanette happily spent her last 3 years. We are very thankful for the wonderful care that she received at Stoughton Hospital during the last three weeks of her life. All of you will never be forgotten.
