Jeanne Schiro

August 31, 1946 — March 12, 2013

Middleton - Jeanne Schiro, age 66 of Middleton, Wis., passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2013. She was born August 31, 1946 in Madison, the daughter of Frank and Ann Schiro. She graduated from Edgewood High School in 1964. She married Jim Hoerres on October 13, 1983. After Jim died in 1986, Jeanne was more determined than ever to be strong, courageous & fiercely independent. Jeanne worked for the University of Wisconsin Accounts Payable Department for over 40 years where she retired in 2010 as an Accounts Payable Manager. She enjoyed the long-term friends she met there and the friendships that were maintained for many years. Jeanne loved to shop which was evidenced by her extensive shoe collection. Jeanne was truly an amazing woman. She delighted in the kindness shown to her by all those who came in contact with her. She loved a good party and had an incredible memory for what she & everyone else wore to the event. She still remembered what she wore on the first day of kindergarten! She was tremendously generous to her family and friends. She loved family dinners and insisted on hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas for many years.

She is survived by her loving sisters; Debbie (Mike) Digney of Middleton, Wis. and Terri (Jim) Rose of Waunakee, Wis.; nephews Bradley (Jill) Rose, Josh (Ashley) Rose; nieces Lindsay (Andy) Ott and Abby Digney; great nephews Aiden Rose, Logan Rose, and Finnley Ott. She is further survived by her Uncle Ben (Sally) Schiro, Aunt Mary Schiro and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jim and brother Peter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013 11:00am at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 602 Everglade Dr in Madison. Monsignor Donn Heier will preside. Visitation will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Sunday, March 17 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm and before mass on Monday from 9:30-11:00am.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Carbone Cancer Center or the Wisconsin Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Random acts of kindness to those around you would also be appreciated.
We would like to thank Mary Flanner and the "Ladies" for adding such richness into Jeanne's life. She so enjoyed the dinners out & all the wonderful meals you hosted at your homes. We would like to thank Jackie Hayes, her best friend since 5th grade, and Nancy Copeland for their love, support and prayers. We would like to say a very special & heartfelt thank you to the Oncology staff at 1 S. Park St; Karen Huseby-Moore, NP (our adopted sister), David Hei, M.D., nurses Amanda, Amy, and Peg, lab techs Meridith & Val, 4th floor receptionist Kim, and the 2 receptionists on the first floor who always remembered Jeanne's name. We truly couldn't have made it through this journey without all of you. In addition, our gratitude goes to the Agrace Hospice Care staff. You made her last days comfortable while maintaining her dignity. Thank you to all her wonderful friends not mentioned by name who wrote, phoned, brought meals and prayed for Jeanne. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
Thank you to my sister-in-law Cathy for her time & talent in creating a beautiful picture video and funeral program.
Lastly & most importantly we would like to thank our husbands, children and grandchildren for their endless love and support through this most difficult time. The kids loved their Aunt Jeanne and provided her with many happy & fun times. Your cards and videos meant the world to her.
Jeanne, you have taught us all to have strength and dignity when facing adversity. You have inspired us everyday with your tremendous spirit and love. On behalf of my sister Debbie and me, we are so grateful and honored to call Jeanne "Sister". Rest in peace our sweet girl.
